Keiko Tsuji Tamura is an emeritus professor and research fellow at The University of Kitakyushu, specializing in international relations theory and Southeast Asian area studies, especially politics, society and gender in Singapore. She is also president of Japan Center for Borderlands Studies. She holds a PhD in law.

Her major publications are ‘Changing Family and Gender in Singapore,’ in Yoko Hayami, Junko Koizumi, Chalidaporn Songsamphan and Ratana Tosakul eds., The Family in Flux in Southeast Asia: Institution, Ideology, Practice, Kyoto University Press and Silkworm Books, 2012; Taminzoku kokka Shingapōru no seiji to gengo: ‘Shōmetsu’ shita Nanyō daigaku no 25nen (Politics and language in Singapore, a multiethnic nation: 25 years of ‘vanished’ Nanyang University), Akashi Shoten, 2013; and ‘Looking into States and Civil Societies in Taiwan and Singapore Through the Lens of Sexual Minorities,’ in Khatharya Um and Chiharu Takenaka eds., Globalization and Civil Society in East Asian Space, Routledge, 2023.
