SODA Ryoji is Professor in the Faculty of Letters, Osaka City University. He specializes in geography and is currently engaged in fieldwork in Southeast Asia and Borneo. He graduated from the Faculty of Letters, Kyoto University, in 1995 and received a PhD in Literature from Kyoto University in 2001. He worked at Hiroshima University and Hokkaido University before becoming Associate Professor at Osaka City University in 2009 and then taking up his current position in 2017.
